Composite Decking

Pros of Composite Decking

  • There's less maintenance. You must decide if the look and feel of natural wood is worth the work that goes into periodic staining, painting and replacing sections that have begun to decay. If you'd rather spend your time doing something else, composites are your choice.

  • Composites come in a variety of colors. Unlike wood, composites don't need to be painted or stained to match your home's exterior.

  • You can use recycled materials. Some composite companies are using recycled materials. This means your synthetic deck can be environmentally friendly.

  • The technology is improving. Some manufacturers now produce decking with a hard plastic shell bonded to composite boards to improve durability. According to Popular Mechanics, this makes the surface less prone to staining, fading, scratching and mold.

Pros of Traditional Wood Decking

  • A lot of people prefer using wood when building their decks because it has a very naturally attractive look. Unlike fake paints and artwork, wood doesn’t need to be decorated or enhanced because it is already beautiful, vibrant and attractive.

  • Another reason for you to choose wood decking is because of its strength and durability. Using teak or similar strong wood will ensure that your decking doesn’t give way and buckle even if a lot of weight has been put over it. This will of course be beneficial for you when you are placing furniture or other decorations on the deck.

  • Traditional Wood Decking can be made from different types of wood, such as Pine and Teak  You can also choose from a wide array of finishes, therefore giving your garden a unique appearance. As the options and variety available for you are endless, you will without doubt be able to find something that compliments your garden furniture and the overall setting that you have opted for.
